If the flight is longer than 4 hours, I take the aisle seat. Why? Because I hate being trapped inside by people who do not know how to be the aisle seat. It’s not difficult, it’s just about being normal.
The first job you have when you’re the aisle seat is to let your team inside during boarding. This is extremely easy. It consists of just standing up to let them inside.Â
Once everybody is inside and announcements are underway, you turn to your crew and say “Hey just a heads up, I don’t care getting up at all. So if you need to get up you can wake me up even if I’m sleeping”.
You will witness an incredible sense of relief from your mates….and you didn’t even do much, you were just a normal person! This one SIMPLE act could really set the tone and calm everybody down. Please do it.
If you’re the window seat, communication is still key. If you have a tiny bladder, let your aisle seat captain know that you’ll have to get up 100 times during the flight. This will likely result in some type of laughter and/or tension going down.
“No worries, thanks for the heads up LOL!”
It’s really that easy to have a great flight.
If you’re in the middle seat, you just have to stay focused during these meetings…you play a major part in this ordeal.Â
You’re more important that you give yourself credit for. Just stay calm and communicate with the team.

It all revolves around communication. Nobody HAS to say anything, but it takes the uncertainty away from people who are scared to stand up on flights because they don’t want to bother anybody. Just communicate on your next flight.
