Park Hyatt Siem Reap

During my Siem Reap hotel research, I noticed that the Park Hyatt was in the direct center of the city and right near Pub Street. That’s literally all I wanted… so I booked. Towards the bottom I will explain how much, and why it’s a such a deal in certain aspects.

Arriving at the Park Hyatt we were greeted and brought into a “lounge” where we sat, got welcome drinks, and checked in. The service and friendliness was off the charts.

The hotel has a very unique feel, which is appropriate because Siem Reap is such a unique place. It feels luxurious but also feels like you’re in the jungle… but also feels like you’re in a city.

The Room

Getting to our room, there were all the amenities you’d expect out of a Park Hyatt (their premier branch). The tub and shower were massive and they had the classic “Asia bathroom window”, where you can see inside…but had doors to make it private.

It was blistering hot out, so we blasted the air conditioning. And by blasted I mean we got it so cold that it actually broke and caused a leak. The hotel staff came and had to fix everything, but it was no issue because we were off to Angkor Wat.

This is a perfect room whether you are solo, a couple, or on trip with friends. The beds were some of the stiffer I have experienced in a Hyatt hotel, but it didn’t matter because we were too excited to be in Cambodia.

The Pool

Where the Park Hyatt Siem Reap really stands out – is the oasis. After climbing to the top of Angkor Wat and playing tomb raider there’s really no better place to cool down before heading to Pub Street.

The pool is essentially in a courtyard with easy access from your room. There are plenty of beds and space to relax.

During my visit, we did not see one other person in the pool besides the great employee brining us cans of Cambodia Beer (my favorite beer in Cambodia)

It’s extremely zen there, there’s not going to be a DJ there or anything like that. You’ll love lounging at Park Hyatt’s pool.

Breakfast Buffet

Normally, I like to venture out and get breakfast on my own, but at Hyatts…the breakfasts usually stand out.

This buffet had anything you could ever want, as well as à la carte items. We were absolutely stuffed after some iced lattes and unlimited food. The employees were fantastic, which was no surprise because  the people of Cambodia are extremely friendly. You will notice that everywhere.

As we ate, we should see the sun starting to rip…we knew it was about to be another hot and sunny day. A good day to hit the countryside and see the War Museum.

The Service

The people we encountered throughout this stay were the nicest people ever. Yes, Hyatt-wide you will general experience that…but Cambodia is very special and you could stay at a 2 star hotel and still experience great folks.

There was normal stuff like getting change for money, our AC problem, the pool service, etc. But at point we had them book an entire tee-time for us so would could golf at Angkor Golf Club – an incredible day.

A perfect rating for the Park Hyatt Siem Reap staff.

The Location

You are truly in the perfect spot while staying here. It’s a quick walk to pub street, you are in a prime pickup location for your Angkor Wat tour, and there is unlimited food and drinks around you.

A warning – this is a “nicer” hotel, people may assume you have more money to give if you are staying here. Be weary of inflated prices by unfamiliar tuktuk drivers or tours that see you staying here. They are not trying to hurt you, you just have to remember what the people in this country have gone through.

How To Get To Pub Street

It’s simple – you just go on a quick walk from the Park Hyatt. Here is a map showing you how close it really is!

The Price

Remember, this is not a best hotel for budget travelers post – this is for the best hotel near pub street. So that’s what you’re getting.

This hotel will run you probably around $220-350 a night, depending on the time of year you go. It’s quite high for Siem Reap, but like I said – it’s a Park Hyatt. This is one of their premier properties, so it’s actually a good price.

Check the prime of Park Hyatt Bangkok or Park Hyatt Tokyo if you don’t believe me.

But I didn’t spend that…I spent points.

Booking With Points

I booked via World of Hyatt points, which I earn for my stays, and use of Hyatt’s credit card. It is one of my favorite programs (until some devaluations of course).

At the time of my trip I spent 12k points a day – which I consider really good value for this property.

Is The Park Hyatt Siem Reap Worth It

This was my first time at a Park Hyatt and thought it was an above average stay for sure. We were in the perfect spot for everything we needed. Everybody was incredible, and even the design was awesome with the wooden floors and ancient Cambodian art.

You will have no regrets staying here!

FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS
Is the Park Hyatt Siem Reap worth it? +
Yes — especially if you are booking with World of Hyatt points. At 12,000 points per night the value is exceptional. Even at the cash rate of $220 to $350 USD it is one of the better priced Park Hyatt properties in Asia. The pool, location, breakfast, and service all justify the price. If you are visiting Siem Reap and want a five star experience without the Bangkok or Tokyo Park Hyatt price tag this is the one.
How far is the Park Hyatt Siem Reap from Pub Street? +
The Park Hyatt Siem Reap is approximately a 5 minute walk from Pub Street. It is located right in the center of the city which makes it the ideal base for exploring the Old Market area, Pub Street, and the surrounding restaurants and bars on foot. You will not need a tuk tuk for any of the main nightlife areas.
How many Hyatt points does the Park Hyatt Siem Reap cost? +
At the time of my stay the Park Hyatt Siem Reap cost 12,000 World of Hyatt points per night. Points rates can change so always check the current redemption cost on the Hyatt website before booking. You can earn World of Hyatt points through hotel stays and the Hyatt credit card. For a Park Hyatt property 12,000 points is an outstanding redemption.
Does the Park Hyatt Siem Reap have a pool? +
Yes — the Park Hyatt Siem Reap has a beautiful outdoor pool in a private courtyard setting. It is quiet, well maintained, and has plenty of sun loungers and poolside service. During my stay we had the entire pool to ourselves which made it feel like a private resort. It is the perfect place to decompress after a long day at Angkor Wat.
Is the Park Hyatt Siem Reap good for solo travelers? +
Yes — the Park Hyatt Siem Reap works perfectly for solo travelers. The central location means everything is walkable, the staff are attentive and helpful for sorting tours and tuk tuks, and the breakfast buffet is a great way to start the day without having to figure out where to go on your own. The hotel also helped book our tee time at Angkor Golf Club which is the kind of service that makes solo travel significantly easier.
What is the best time to visit Siem Reap? +
November to February is the best time to visit Siem Reap — temperatures are cooler and there is minimal rain. March to May is very hot. June to October is wet season with heavy afternoon rain though prices drop significantly. My visit was during the hot season which was intense but manageable with the Park Hyatt pool and good air conditioning. Whenever you go, the hotel's central location means you are always close to everything.
