Arriving at Zvartnots Airport at Night – What To Do and What to Expect
Like many of you, I arrived to Zvartnots Airport at a time where I was basically delirious. It was exciting to be in Yerevan, Armenia for the first time…but that Air France delay was brutal. Here’s what I did to get from Zvartnots Airport to city center in the middle of the night.
| Airport Name | Zvartnots International Airport (EVN) |
| Location | 12km west of Yerevan city center |
| Journey to city | ~20 to 30 minutes by Yandex |
| Ride share app | Yandex Go - download before arrival |
| Currency exchange | Available inside baggage claim area |
| Visa on arrival | Yes - Americans and EU citizens get 180 days free |
| Safe at night | Yes - use Yandex and skip the taxi touts |
Yandex - Armenia's "Uber"
Armenia is such a peaceful and great country, I really enjoyed it. But like most countries, there was the classic “airport gauntlet”.
Do you really want to haggle at midnight for a ride? Of course not. Yandex is the “uber” of this region, and you should have it downloaded prior to your arrival in Yerevan. This will make things smooth sailing as you walk by all the people trying to up-charge you for a taxi.
Sim Card In Armenia
Personally, I either use the international plan on my cell service, or an eSim. In the year 2026, you don’t need to be standing in line at the airport for a sim card.
Airalo is a popular eSim at the moment, you can check them out here.
Getting Money
Remember, Zvartnots Airport is quite small…but it functions just like an other normal airport. Inside of the bagging area you will find a currency exchange to get some cash at a good rate.
Using a credit card in Armenia is perfectly fine, but you really don’t want to be in a foreign country with zero cash. Plus, if you’re heading to the market as one of your activities, cash will be best. There are plenty of things to do in Yerevan.
Armenian Visa/Entry
Oh ya, make sure you can entry the country by the way. If you are an American or from the EU, you have visa free entry on arrival to Armenia for 180 days. It is not a strict country at all!
If you do these things, your arrival into Zvartnots Airport will be extremely peaceful and you will be able to enjoy Yerevan in the morning when you wake up. Nobody wants to arrive to the airport at a weird time, but you’ll be ok.
