When deciding on a hotel to stay at in Jeddah, Saudi Arabia, I just couldn’t make a decision.Â
Of course you want to stay near Al-Balad (The Historic Distric). But then you see The Red Sea Mall is north. Then you realize the prices are cheaper as you go more east into the city. There are endless variables.
So I’ll make it very easy for you. Stay around the Corniche Road, because the waterfront is amazing. Bang, your decision is now made. Spend the money, you can always make more.
I primarily stay at Hyatt and Marriot properties (credit cards), but the Jeddah Hilton caught my attention. And I’m happy it did.
It truly felt like I was in the middle of everything I needed to see in Jeddah. Now this is not the most walkable city due to the heat and size, but being this close to the water led to a fantastic coastal breeze.
Everything is just a short Uber away, and I personally found the Uber prices to be excellent in Saudi Arabia.Â
The malls, the attractions, the historic areas, the coast…everything was in reach.
As you walk in, you quickly notice the scale of the building. The staff was immediately super friendly and welcomed me to their country. I didn’t ask for a coastal view, but I got one. Majority of rooms at the Jeddah Hilton have a balcony you can relax on.
The balcony was awesome, I spent a lot of time out there just looking at the Red Sea, considering it was my first time seeing it.Â
I noticed a problem with the bathtub, so I texted the front desk, and he quickly sent up a staff member. Turns out I was being an idiot…but it was a good test for their service I guess.
The room feels very “Middle East” if that makes sense. You can just “feel” that you are there. It is not the most modern, but it’s not the most outdated either.Â
You have to understand where you are staying. Jeddah is not Dubai….yet. I’ll get into that in another post. But don’t come into this stay expecting something revolutionary.
This hotel has a fantastic price for the location. Getting to the coastline takes 1 minute and there is a beach club just outside the door.Â
Most importantly, there is an Al-Baik right outside the door as well. Inside, you will find a little store for any Saudi snacks/waters/etc. Maybe a little non alcoholic beer if you’re feeling wacky.Â
The pool is quite large and I noticed a bunch of families enjoying their time out there. But I didn’t partake. The elevators are fully glass so you can enjoy the large spacious lobby at all angles.Â
Waters were provided for me, which was great. Inside of the room there was a bed, couch, a decent sized table, and some more chairs. And of course the balcony. The bathroom was very standard but clean and had all amenities you will need.
Like I said, it’s not the Waldorf…but that is coincidentally next door. There is nothing I can complain about. If you want to spend $600 a night for more modern, and more luxury…you absolutely can.Â
But if you’re looking for “mid-range” hotel in a fantastic location, you will likely have a great stay at the Jeddah Hilton. The points redemption was not really looking great, so I spent about 800 SAR ($215) a night plus fees for my stay in Saudi Arabia.
